Scarier than its predecessor and having greater connections to the franchise, The Nun II has great cast performances, improved jump scares and bolder storytelling but could have been a bit longer.

The first Nun movie leaves quite a bit to be desired, but I genuinely think this one brought this pair of movies up a little in The Conjuring franchise realm. Unfortunately, the nun is kind of the weakest antagonist when used directly like this, simply because she leans away from the paranormal ghostly scare and is closer to almost a monster kind of scare, but this movie brought her back a little to that more ghostly ominous feel. It's still not nearly as scary as some of the other movies in this universe, but it does a good job of helping tie up some more loose ends, even if not everything perfectly matches what was already established in other films. Also, I know so many people wanted there to be a tie-in between Irene and Lorraine and while I don't see how they could be connected, I would also love is somehow that connection was made too.

Shockingly, this movie was better than the first Nun movie, which I really did not enjoy or find interesting. This movie was scarier and executed much better than the original.
