Roll bar padding - Roll cage padding - Interior - Products (2025)

Roll cage foam is one of the products that you can use in the car to protect yourself against bruises or fractures when you have an accident. The roll bar padding is placed around the tubes of the roll bar. As result of this you do not directly touch the steel of the roll cage and the hit is damped.

At QSP products we have 2 types of roll bar padding in the assortment; normal and FIA approved padding. With the normal, the foam is usually a bit softer in feel but still well suited to protect yourself. However, if you are going to participate in official competitions that run the FIA regulations, then roll cage foam is required which is provided with an FIA approval.

The properties of non-approved and FIA approved padding.
A normal non-approved roll bar padding is made of fire-retardant material and has a soft structure. The paddings can be used on both 40mm and 45mm roll cage tubes and are available in various colors such as; blue, yellow, red, black and purple. The standard available length of the QSP roll cage padding is 92 cm. These pieces can easily be shortened to fit your car.

Attaching the roll cage foam to the tube is usually done by using racing tape or ty-raps. In terms of placement, these pieces are often placed around the head to prevent direct contact between the helmet and the tubes. The top of the door cross is also often wrapped with foam to prevent you from colliding with the pipe with your elbow.

The properties of FIA approved padding.
The roll cage foam with an FIA approval is made of a harder material than the normal version. This harder material absorbs the impact of the helmet against the tubes. Fia approved paddings are available in various colors such as; black red, blue, yellow and orange. FIA approved roll cage padding is available in two sizes; the smallest size can be used on pipes up to a maximum of 40mm pipe. The larger padding that we have in our range can be used for pipes with a diameter of up to 51 cm. The smallest size is often applied to any crosses along the windshield or in the roof, these tubes often have a diameter of up to 40mm. The larger size is very useful for the main bar as it is often thicker than the rest of the roll cage.

The FIA-approved padding is attached using an adhesive strip. This allows you to easily stick the padding on the roll cage tubes. Before installing the padding, it is important that you first thoroughly degrease the pipes. To ensure that the roll cage padding does not come loose during a race, we also recommend securing the parts with ty-raps or racing tape. There is nothing more annoying than poor visibility due to a loose piece of padding.

What protection
Whether you choose the normal padding or the FIA padding from QSP products, both products provide you with the right safety during the race. If you have any questions about which padding is best suited for you and which type you should use, please feel free to contact one of our experts.
