LEXINGTON HERALD-LEADER KENTUCKY.COM CITY REGION MONDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2013 A7 ATKINS Virginia Marie, loving wife of Norman Atkins, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the age of 88. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth Payne and Estella Mae Anderson Payne. Virginia is survived by her husband of 65 years Norman, sons Mark Atkins and his wife Susan, Barry and his wife Barbara. Virgin- ia and Norman have 4 grand- children Ellora and Myles At- kins, Robin (Atkins) Lavoie, her husband Todd and Marcie (Atkins) Kestel, her husband Chad. Virginia is al- so survived by great grand- children Dominic and Ashley Lavoie, Abby and Joseph Kestel.

Virginia was a dedi- cated homemaker to her en- tire extended family through- out her life. Virginia and Norman have belonged to South Elkhorn Christian Church since 1968 and have contributed much to the spi- ritual community there. She was a member of the Priscilla and Mary Circles. She served as the Memorial Chairwom- an for 25 years, as well as be- ing involved in many proj- ects and special events over the years. Virginia was a member of the Salvation Ar- my in whose service she spent countless hours over the last 45 years volunteer- ing in nursing homes and hospitals throughout central Kentucky.

Virginia was also a member of the Suburban Club for many years where she continued her public service. Pallbearers will be Myles Atkins, Matt Gibbs, Bill Howard, Robin Lavoie, Jack McAllister and Fred Muschong. Visitation will be from 5-8pm Monday, Feb 25, 2013 at the Milward- Southland, Lexington, KY where funeral services will be held at 10am on Tuesday, Feb 26, with burial in Lex- ington Cemetery. Born in Mt. Sterling, she was the daughter of the late William and Lena Stevenson Thomp- son. She was retired from Irving Parachute Co. as an inspector. Surviving is her son, Owen Dennis, Jr, (Pat) of Lexington; five grandchil- dren David Dennis (Elaine), Tyrone, GA, Darrell Dennis (Brenda), Lexington, Debra Adair (Woody) Danville, IN, Dean Dennis, Lexington, and Dee Anne Flanary (Kane) of Denver, NC; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one sis- ter, Juanita Givens, Fl; sister- in-law Freda Thompson, of Lexington, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preced- ed in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, William Howard and Earl Davis Thompson. Special thanks to the Homestead Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held Wednes- day at 12pm in the chapel of Kerr Brothers Funeral Home of Main St. with burial fol- lowing in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Short St. www.clarklegacycenter.com WARREN Gordon Dean, 71, passed away Thursday, Feb, 21, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospi- tal in Lexington, KY of a heart attack brought on by complications of Renal Fail- ure with his wife and son by his side.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Anita Maynard Warren and son Gordon Dean Warren, whom he loved and cherished. Also surviving is one very special sister, Freda (Howard) Dulin of Memphis, TN as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gordon was a life- long resident of Lexington and was the son of the late Sherman D. and Nannie Jones Warren. He was a graduate of Henry Clay High School in Lexington.

Follow- ing graduation, Gordon en- listed in the US Coast Guard and spent his military career stationed at the USCG Base in Sault Ste. Marie, Michi- gan. After serving in the mili- tary, Gordon was employed by IBM in Lexington for 30 years until his retirement. The family has honored Gor- wishes for cremation and there will be no public visitation or funeral services. Family and friends of Gor- don will have a "Celebration of Life" gathering for Gor- don later in the spring, de- tails pending.

At this time his family asks only for your thoughts and prayers to help us through this difficult time. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, chaplains, and staff at St. Jo- seph Hospital on Harrodsburg Rd. for their loving care for Gordon and his family dur- ing his final hours. Gordon is now in Heaven with his Fa- ther and Mother that loved him so dearly.
